At Grandma Diane and Grandpa Clyde's house, the kids have always loved to swing on the swing they have hanging from a tree in their side yard. I found some photos from June of 2008 to compare with photos from April of 2012!
Now...
And then....
Side by side of Seth!
I'll have to get Isabelle's photo for a comparison next time!

COSI
Last weekend we went to COSI (in Columbus). It has been a while since we'd been there. So long that Seth didn't remember the awesome kids play area they have.
First we went to the area called Ocean. There are lots to do with water here including learning about water bells:
Making waves...
Balancing balls on water...
And seeing what water does to sand when it slides over it...
Next was a Gadgets area where Seth watched these robots perform a dance...
And balanced a ball on air (similar to balancing it on water)...
Pausing to pose...
Next was the Little KidSpace where kids up to First Grade can play. Shane, Seth and Isabelle watched a Gadgets presentation while Parker and I played here.
Last, we headed outside for a picnic lunch that we had brought with us.
And the kids explored the outside courtyard.
Looks like we wore Parker out!
We now have a membership to COSI, so I'm sure we'll be back soon!

One of Parker's favorite things to do - turn the faucets on and off. These had no water. |
Practicing on steps |
He liked to sit on these when I piled some up |
This was a "bowl" where he threw a small ball into it and it went down the hole in the center. |

Seth's Skating Lessons
During April, Seth took roller skating lessons at Skate America in Grove City. This is a popular place around town and Seth's school holds roller skating parties there frequently and we've been to a few birthday parties there (including Isabelle's 8th birthday). Each person who takes skating lessons also gets a brand new pair of skates! Seth's are really cool black and blue ones.
The class had about 8 students, 2 of which were adult women (it was slightly comical to watch those women). During the first two classes they practiced some skills then played various games. During the last two classes, they just played games. One game was skating to the song "Ghostbusters" and every time the song said "Ghostbusters", everyone had to turn and start skating the other way. They also did the Chicken Dance, Hokey Pokey and the Limbo. Here's Seth doing the Limbo - he was really good at it!
Here's a video of Seth skating:
Seth really had fun taking the skating lessons and hopefully we'll get to go skating more often now!

Take Your Child To Work Day
Isabelle got to spend a day with me at my new work (Patrick Engineering)! It was Take Your Son/Daughter To Work Day. Although my office is tiny and there weren't any activities planned for kids, Isabelle really wanted to go to work with me for the day. To keep herself busy, she brought with her a "Bag of Entertainment" that consisted of some books, her Kindle and her laptop. One of the first things she did was to make a Lost and Found pile and then she went around "finding" things that were "lost" (she got this idea because there was a pair of lost sunglasses on my desk). She spent some time coloring a giant picture that one of my co-workers printed on our big plotter printer for her (seen in the photo below) and she helped me scan some papers (she wouldn't let me do it without her!). For lunch we invited everyone to go to Chipotle with us (Isabelle's pick) and everyone from the office ended up going with us!
All of my co-workers enjoyed having Isabelle there for the day. She has already asked when she can go back!
Me and mini-me at my desk. The picture Isabelle colored is on the wall behind us. |
Being goofy with a wrist rest. |
