Family Photos

Back in November we had our pictures taken as a family. I'm just now getting around to posting them! You may recognize one of them from our Christmas card. Here are our favorite shots:

Thanks to our friend Heather for photographing us!

Firefly Play Cafe

Parker and I discovered this "play café" in Clintonville called Firefly Play Cafe. It's a great place for smaller kids to run around and play and we had a fun morning there. As the name indicates, it's a play area plus a small cafe.

Cub Scouts Crossover Ceremony

Seth's first year of Cub Scouts wrapped up with a Crossover Ceremony at the end of May. All year he has been working towards the Tiger Cub rank. With this ceremony, he is officially a Tiger Cub.

The night included dinner - hot dogs provided by Cub Scouts along with side dishes and desserts provided by each family. Then the boys each crossed the bridge to symbolize their "crossing over" to the next rank, and they received a yellow neckerchief and the Tiger Cub patch.

There are some Cub Scout activities planned this summer, and then he'll be working towards the Wolf Cub rank.

Cub Scouts Camping

Seth and Shane spent two nights camping with Cub Scouts on April 26 and 27. This took place at Tar Hollow State Park, which is east of Chillicothe, Ohio. They both had a great time!

Below was their itinerary for the weekend. They participated in BB gun shooting, tie dying t-shirts, fishing, archery, using a compass and finding animals tracks. Seth's favorite of these was using a compass.

They are planning on camping again this summer, not with Cub Scouts, but with friend Kaleb and his dad, Tony.

Big Splash

This year we became members of the local pool, Big Splash. We went there for the first time this season on Tuesday. My friend Shannon and her kids, Savannah and Brady, traveled up from the Cincinnati area and came along with us! We had warm weather and warm pool water. I didn't have my camera, so here are a couple of photos provided by Shannon. We all had a really good time! Next time I'll remember my camera.

Duck Pond

There is a path to the pond behind our neighborhood from the end of our street and we've been venturing back there a bit. Parker likes to see the "quack quacks" and throw rocks into the water.

4th Grade Celebration

On her last day of 4th grade, which is also her last day at J.C. Sommer Elementary School, Isabelle was part of the 4th grade awards ceremony where each student received an award. They also played a slide show of photos from the school year. Shane attended this since it was at 8:30 AM.

Isabelle and Mrs. Ayala. Both teachers "team taught" so Isabelle went to Mrs. Ayala's classroom for part of the day each day.

Outstanding Academic Achievement!
At the end of the day, there was a "Clap Out" for the 4th graders. All of the students in the school, teachers, faculty and many parents lined the hallways of the 4th grade wing and clapped as the 4th graders walked by and out the front door. Parker and I were a part of the Clap Out and it was really neat, and a bit emotional realizing how quickly Isabelle is growing up! Isabelle said she was sad to leave the school.

It was difficult to hold a camera and watch Parker, so here's a sample of the clap out (Isabelle is not in this photo - or any of the clap out).

She really enjoyed all of her years there and had great teachers. This fall she'll go to Hayes Intermediate School, which is for 5th and 6th grades. That school is just 2 blocks from JC Sommer, on the same street.
